A model has claimed that she receives death threats over her natural eyebrows.
US monobrow model Sophia Hadjipanteli appeared on ITV’s Good Morning Britain and made the shocking revelation.
Sophia, the self-styled founder of the “unibrow movement”, said that she receives negative comments for her natural eyebrows.
She told presenters Susanna Reid and Piers Morgan: “I definitely get a lot of negative reactions.”
“A lot of the negativity I get is from online, mostly, and in person, people are just a bit unsure of how to take it because it’s kind of odd to see someone that looks like me walking in the street.”
“I try not to read a lot of them, a lot of people tell me when I get them so obviously I don’t really have the patience to go through and read every person’s comments.”
‘It’s a bit of a shame when you want to read the nice ones, to have to go through all the mean ones, but it’s worth it I think.”
“I get a lot of death threats. I do, funnily enough. I guess it’s not that funny.”
“It’s disgusting but then in a way, you think how is it that something, somewhere, someone has told this person that is so unacceptable to look the way I do that it infuriates them to the point they have to threaten my life.”
“We are being brought up in a society that not only favours, but encourages people to go down one road.”
When she was asked if her boyfriend Zac Apostolou, a London-based photographer, likes her monobrow, Sophia said: “He loves it.”
“He had a monobrow when he was little as well. I tint my eyebrows, I naturally have quite dark eyebrows but not this dark, so whenever I’m tinting them he always gets so interested in what I’m doing.”
