As usual, the Philippines is in full support for our Miss Philippines. In fact, in an article by PEP.ph, they wrote that during the preliminary competition, Catriona received one of the loudest cheers. The prelim competition happened at IMPACT Arena in Bangkok, Thailand, Thursday, December 13. This is also where the coronation night would occur this coming Monday, December 17.
The opening of the preliminary competition had the 94 contestants wear gowns renowned American fashion designer, Sherri Hill. For Catriona Gray, her dress was black with metallic embellishments.
For the swimsuit competition, the contestants wore swimsuits designed by Sirivannavari Nariratana, one of Thailand’s beloved princess. Catriona picked a hot pink one-piece swimsuit that had cutouts. She definitely “slayed” the stage with what she calls Lava Walk.
For the evening gown competition, Catriona wore a custom-made Mak Tumang gown. Mak is also a renowned fashion designer in the Philippines. He was also the designer for Kylie Padilla’s wedding gown. An Instagram account named Misses Philippines posted a photo of four dresses Mak allegedly made for Catriona.
Apparently, based on the posts’ caption, Mak made seven dresses for Catriona but she only picked three to bring to Thailand. The four out of the seven sketches of the dresses was the one shown on the photo posted on social media.
