Filipinos are known to be one of the best singers in the world. There is Lea Salonga, Arnel Pineda, Jake Zyrus and many more. Filipinos are always fond of singing and it is one of the many reasons why we are one of the happiest people in the world. In our culture, karaoke machines can always be seen in family reunions, birthdays and Christmas parties. And somehow for most of us Filipinos, it became a part of our tradition.
Singing is the expression of our soul. We can sing our hearts out and express our feelings, whether we are happy, sad or even angry. It is also one of the easiest way to set your mood and it won’t cost you anything. You can do it in the shower, while waiting for your flight or while doing household chores. It can be also beneficial to our health, expands our lung capacity and increases our blood flow. Singing surely is God’s gift to mankind but sadly, not all of us are gifted with this kind of talent.
In a viral video posted on social media, a blind woman named Elsie Balawig once again showed her extreme talent in singing. Many people were amazed by her angelic voice in her beautiful rendition of Beyonce’s “Listen.” Elsie’s talent served as a blessing and inspiration for so many people in social media including our fellow Filipinos who are working abroad. We can say that she easily captivated our hearts. Elsie Balawig proved that being handicapped shouldn’t get in the way of your own passion and reminded us to always believe in ourselves.
As of now this writing, Elsie’s video already has 2.8 million views, 73K reactions and 100K shares.
