Duchess Meghan Markle showed up with her husband, Prince Harry, to introduce the royal baby named Archie Harrison to the world as she donned the most stunning accessory of all — the post baby bump.
And we can’t help but say it: YAAAAASSSS DUCHESS! 👏👏👏
The Duchess of Sussex came out wearing a sleeveless, cream colored, trench-style dress designed by Wales Bonner, with a belt that tied right above her waist, accentuating her post baby bump.
In comparison, both Princess Diana and Kate Middleton had opted for looser fitting dresses when they debuted their newborns to the media. The Duchess of Cambridge had worn a blue polka-dot dress when she and Prince William introduced Prince George to the world in 2013 that was cinched at the waist and silhouetted her postpartum bump. And the world was shocked, presumably because we weren’t (and still kind of aren’t) used to seeing celebrities looking less than perfect after having given the miracle of life just days prior.
We can safely say there’s no one under more scrutiny than the royals. But, at a time when women are constantly criticized for how their bodies look, Markle is showing us a little slice of postpartum reality.
While some new moms are able to “snap back” to their pre-baby bodies shortly after giving birth, others take longer or their bodies may never fully revert back. The timeline varies from person to person, but generally, it can take anywhere from a month to six weeks postpartum for the uterus to return to its “normal” size.
The Duchess of Sussex just welcomed her royal baby on Monday, so it’s natural that her belly is still slightly inflated.
Some might say Markle’s postpartum bump may have been just as popular as the royal baby. Fans took to social media to show their appreciation for her bump.
