We trust the teachers and staff at our local schools to treat our children like we treat our own. These children have enough difficulties in life, that the school staff should never be a problem for our children. Of course, accidents happen but one elementary school appears to be doing unusual things to children as you will see in this story.
A Washington state mother was eagerly waiting for her son at the school bus stop. She always waited for him for every afternoon so they could walk back to their home and discuss what he learned at school and how the day went for him. This daily ritual kept the two close. The bus pulled up and the students quickly emptied out of the bus. Towards the back of the children filtering out was her son. She knew something wasn’t right. Then she got a good look at her son and saw that his face was covered in tears. When he saw her, he immediately rushed up to her, that’s when she saw why he was crying. He wasn’t wearing any pants!
The mother, who wished to remain anonymous, needed to know what happened. Where were her son’s pants? Why did the school send him home like this. She asked her son what had happened but then she noticed what he was wearing. It was a diaper. Her son’s school, Mint Valley Elementary, had sent her son home in a diaper. Unfortunately, her son was so sad that he could barely muster a word.
The mother took her son home and immediately called the school. The school administration desperately tried to avoid answering the mother, but she wasn’t going to let it go. This isn’t the first time the elementary school has been caught doing questionable things to the students under their care. The constant dodging by the school only made the mother more concerned.
Her son has a learning disability and is a foster child, which has caused the bullies to target him relentlessly. His mother knew this incident would only make the bullying even worse. The school needed a very good reason for her son walking around in front of his fellow classmates and even bullies in a sagging diaper. Even if an accident had happened, why wasn’t she contacted beforehand? The school continued to dodge the questions the increasingly frustrated mother asked.
Finally, after the mother persisted that the school give her an answer, the school finally told the mother why her son had been sent home like this. He had an accident in the classroom and wet himself. Instead of the school offering him a change of underwear or even contacting her to bring in a new set of clothing, the school decided they would remove his pants and put on a diaper and no pants.
Not only was her son terrified after wetting himself in front of his classmates, but the school had forced him to walk in front of his classmates in a diaper. It’s a story that proves that fact is truly stranger than fiction.
Of course, like any parent, the mother wasn’t any happier with the truth. She continued to go up the ranks of the school district demanding that this be looked into. If the school felt it was okay to do things like this, what else were they doing? The school still had a poor reputation among parents for its mistreatment of children with special needs and this incident shows that they haven’t changed at all.
Back in 2012, the school made headlines when it was found out that the elementary school had been placing children with special needs inside of a small room, no bigger than a closet to isolate them. The school claimed that the room was used to prevent children from harming themselves or others and also as a refuge for children with autism if they were experiencing too much sensory stimulation. However, parents of children were concerned that the box may actually have been used as a punishment rather than as a tool to help children. The school later removed the room.
After the story spread among parents of children that go to the school the Longview Public School system, which Mint Valley Elementary is a part of, was forced to make a statement addressing the concerns around this story. Sandy Catt, a spokesperson for the school district put out a public statement.
Typical protocol would be that the child would be cleaned up and outfitted with some sort of unisex loaner sweats or something like that. That protocol was not followed, and from a district level we have investigated that.
The answer provides hope, however the school district has yet to reveal any findings thanks to the investigation. It should be noted that the school has a policy that requires every student have a spare set of clothes at the school in case of such an emergency. Why the student was forced to wear the diaper instead is a mystery.

Starving Man Begs For Scraps. The Manager Says ‘No’, And Immediately Takes Action.
The number of homeless people has increased so much that it is hard to walk about a town or city without encountering at least one of them. Figures dressed in old haggard clothes, with tin cups in front of them to beg for money, or coiled up in an effort to keep warm. They never fail to invoke a deep reaction in us, prompting many, but not all, to offer help. Many homeless people depend on the kindness of others.
One such homeless man decided to try his luck in a Murfreesboro, Tennessee Chick-fil-A, if only for scraps of leftover food. Little did he know that he was in for a surprise. The manager would do something so unexpected that it had an impact on all who were present at the restaurant that day.
Joey Mustain was enjoying a routine father-daughter date with his little girl when he happened to witness the compassion of the Chick-fil-A manager. He was so moved that he relayed details of the story in a Facebook post the moment he was back home.
He had taken his girl, Stella, for their usual date at their favorite spot. Stella loves the playground tractor and lights up whenever she sees it, and Mr. Mustain enjoys the spot for its ambiance, cleanliness and good food.
As soon as they were done with their meal, his energetic daughter ran to play with the other children and as a result worked up her appetite for dessert. They traded her toy for her favorite ice-cream. She chose to enjoy it at the table – rather than in the truck where she usually prefers. And boy, was Joey glad that she did! Joey and Stella occupied the booth next to the point where drinks are refreshed.
It was from this vantage point that they witnessed the spectacular scene that began with a homeless traveler walking in and asking for leftover food. His hair was untidy and his beard a testament to the lack of a shave for one too many days. His clothes were the typical kind that many of the homeless wore: old, creased and ill-fitting.
His worn out shoes were caked in mud and spoke of a man who had traveled many days. Those next to him kept their distance but the man was not fazed maybe he was used to it. He was actually kind, even as he spoke to people who were wary of him and were reluctant to speak to him. He maintained a smile on his gentle but pinched face as he patiently awaited the manager. Many looked up from their meals as they waited to see what the manager would do with him.
The manager finally came and Joey was astounded by what he heard in the conversation between the manager and that homeless man. The manager said he was willing to give a full hot meal and would hear nothing of scraps and leftovers from the man.
The only payment he demanded was that the homeless man allows him to pray for him! And in midst of the hub of activity, the bewildered customers, and curious staff, the Manager laid his hand on the man. A momentary silence swept over the restaurant as he began to pray.
It was a stirring prayer that was full of love and evoked the emotions of the heart. And in that moment, the homeless man became more than an unwanted sight at a favorite eating spot. He became the purpose that the store opened its doors that morning or any morning.
Stella was looking on at the behest of her father and asked for an elaboration of the curious scene before her. When Joey explained, the little girl bowed her head too.
It was then that Joey recognized that Chick-fil-A is more than a mere business for profit joint – it is a ministry. Joey was truly awed, and even more so as he saw the learning opportunity for his young daughter. He aimed to teach her important life lessons and welcomed such opportunities where he could witness other Christians minister these lessons to her as well. He was grateful that Chick-fil-A offered that opportunity that day. He could see in his daughter’s face, that she was deeply moved by the kindness of the manager.
That manager could have shooed off the ragged homeless man from his restaurant. Maybe he could have gathered scraps and sent him away with them (and that would be helpful). But he decided to do more, he chose to minister to him, and he made a difference beyond the life of that man.
As the weather gets chillier, contemplate on how you can help the homeless who have to endure the harrowing and risky conditions. You can make a positive difference no matter your location. There is always a homeless shelter that will accept spare old clothes, money and most of all volunteer time. You have what it takes to make a difference and change lives for the better like that wonderful and kind Manager!

Many parents probably have gone through stress trying to find out the hottest Christmas toy gifts to give their kids. Unfortunately, many of them have walked in stores and got out empty handed.
But for a young lady named Cassie Gretschel, her mentally challenged, and physically disabled brother has fallen in love with a toy truck that is no longer being produced. It was last produced about a decade ago, and to find it these days is next to an impossibility.
“The Blue Police Hummer truck, made in 2000, is what he wants as a Christmas gift,” she wrote online.
For 17-years in succession, her family has gifted Max with the very truck. But this year, things have changed and getting the truck is not as easy as it was in the previous years that she could find and she has reached out for help.
She asked the Reddit users to help her get the toy truck wherever it could be found. She offered t get the truck from people for a fee. However, she found generous people from different parts of the world to give it to her free of charge.

Cassie turned to the most popular sites, Reddit and Imgur, to find out if anyone still has his brother’s favorite toy.
“My brother Max is 25-years of age, but mentally he is about 5-years of age,” she explained. “He is challenged both physically and mentally, and the only thing that can make him happy this Christmas is a Blue Police Hammer truck which was made in the year 2000.”
Since the truck is no longer being produced, the Cassie has been left with limited resources where she could get them. Form the past 17 years, and her family has bought every single piece that was on eBay.
She turned to Reddit to see if anyone in the form had the truck so that she could buy.
Cassie posted this photo which shows the truck that Max has found, and she is still hoping to get more of them for other coming Christmases.
“He spends many hours daily playing with them, so many of them are broken down already and have been used as spare parts for repair,” she wrote
We give thanks to the generosity of other people and the internet which has made the world to be a global village. Max would enjoy his Christmas normally and happily!
