1. Tati Westbrook Officially Cuts Ties With James Charles — “Bye Sister”
Last month, fans of YouTubers and beauty gurus Tati Westbrook and James Charles were blindsided when it was revealed they were feuding.
The drama — which you can read about in detail here — all started when James promoted Sleep Vitamins by SugarBear Hair, a direct competitor of Tati’s beauty brand, Halo Beauty.
Fast forward a few weeks, and Tati (age 37) is spilling the tea when it comes to her relationship with James, after being called out by fellow YouTuber Gabriel Zamora, and spoiler alert, it’s not looking good for the former BFFs.
So, has Tati forgiven James Charles?
In a 40-minute video titled “Bye Sister” uploaded to her YouTube channel, Tati revealed that James did not personally reach out to her following Coachella and the Instagram stories that started the feud.
“It was more than one thing and it wasn’t just specifically about vitamins or Halo, but it was just about being lied to and feeling disrespected,” she told the camera. “James Charles… he had nine days after Coachella to talk to me, he knows where I live — it’s not far from him — he could’ve come face to face and chatted with me because he knew that this would hurt me.”
She continued, “To not even get a phone call, to not even get a text a few days prior… that’s pretty typical of James Charles’ behavior. From the time that I met him when he was 17… I know that he has a way of just getting what he wants and I always blamed it on his age.”
Tati does not want to be friends with James Charles, period.
Tati goes on to claim that James, 19, is not the same person she met all two years ago, and she does not want to be associated with him anymore.
“Fame, power and a fat bank account will change almost anyone. And if you don’t have people that tell you to your face that you’re doing the wrong things you will change,” she explained. “I tried to be that person to you James, I really tried. I don’t think there is any getting through to you and I don’t want to be friends with you. I don’t want to be associated with you and I need to say that very publicly so that this chapter can just be closed.”
Tati claimed she is the reason James started his popular YouTube channel.
After accusing James of apologizing for “damage control” and to save his image, Tati went on to say that he told her she is the reason he got into makeup and that she has stood by him, even during his scandals.
“It’s sad that I will never be able to watch my wedding video without seeing his face or thinking of him and thinking about all the things I hoped our relationship would be,” Tati added. “I always envisioned that he would grow up. That at some point we would eventually meet up as friends because he would be an adult.
She went on to detail how her husband, also named James, would spend hours looking over contracts for James and helped him monetizing his content, which resulted in him going from $90 a video to $2,500 a video.
Tati also accused James of spreading rumors to make her look like the villain.
“For you to lie to me and make me the villain, and go around and circulate a story to work on your side saying I’m loving the drama because it’s improving sales,” Tati said with tears in her eyes. “That’s not the case. You’re my family, I love you still… this is not about money at all.”
Meanwhile, James has not responded to Tati’s video and is currently in Australia promoting his Sister pop-up shop at the Pacific Fair Shopping Centre.

2. Beauty vlogger James Charles addresses the rumors that he has a sex tape
YouTube beauty vlogger James Charles has become so popular that he’s causing city-wide traffic meltdowns and uninvited fans are showing up at his house and hiding behind garbage cans.
Now, there are rumors that the 19-year-old Charles has a sex tape that’s been leaked online. The problem with this alleged tape? Charles said he hasn’t ever had sex.
Charles squashed the rumors last week when he tweeted, “apparently my sex tape is going around!!??? this is exciting news to me considering i’m still very much a virgin lol.”
That tweet drew more than 20,000 retweets and nearly 350,000 likes. But it wasn’t enough to completely shut down the rumors. On Tuesday, Charles again commented on the gossip that so far refuses to die. He continued his humorous commentary, writing, “if my sex tape ever DID leak you all would know because i’d be posting it everywhere fully monetized with 34 mid-roll ads.”
Ah, spoken like a true YouTuber.
Charles, who just surpassed 14 million subscribers, has had quite a run of success. At age 17, he was given a contract with Cover Girl, as the first male ambassador to the brand. His Halloween makeup tutorial featuring Kylie Jenner has drawn nearly 26 million views, and at a recent appearance at a Morphe makeup store in Birmingham, England, traffic got so snarled that “the city gridlocked for hours” and drivers reportedly abandoned their cars overnight.
But Charles has also experienced the downside of his fame. Recently, he demanded fans stop visiting him at his Los Angeles home, saying it made him feel unsafe.
“Please stop showing up at my house,” Charles wrote on Twitter. “I will not hug you, I will not take a photo with you, and I absolutely will not sign your palette. It is extremely disrespectful & makes me feel very unsafe in my own home. Respect people’s privacy, it’s really not that hard.”
In that case, his home address had been leaked online. Which is much worse than leaking a fake sex tape. It’s easier to maintain a sense of humor about mistaken identity.
3. CoverGirl Ambassador James Charles Apologizes for Racist Ebola Tweet
James Charles is issuing several apologies after tweeting a controversial “joke” about Ebola.
The 17-year-old aspiring makeup artist, who was named CoverGirl’s first male ambassador last year, enraged Twitter on Thursday when he tweeted, “‘I can’t believe we’re going to Africa today omg what if we get Ebola?’ ‘James we’re fine we could’ve gotten it at chipotle last year.’”
Charles immediately received backlash from the Twitterverse for insinuating travelling to Africa would result in contracting Ebola. But according to Affinity Magazine, he refused to take responsibility for his statement, blocking any users who called him out.
Several hours later, James deleted all the tweets, and issued his first apology via Twitter, writing, “I am extremely sorry. Regardless of my intentions, words have consequences. I take full responsibility and will learn to do better.”
But Twitter users were not satisfied.
James then issued a longer apology, which was meant to be less “bullshit” than the first, saying he was “aware that the tweet was extremely offensive and degrading.”
“I posted it to make fun of my friend’s mistake, but did not think about what the tweet as a whole was implying. It was never my intent to offend anyone and I am sorry,” he wrote. “As a white cis male, I recognize my privilege and would never want to take that for granted, but I fucked up.”
However, he made matters worse when he referred to Africa as a country.
James tried to correct the gaffe, tweeting, “I misspoke & said country because we are traveling specifically to South Africa only. I know Africa is a continent and wanted to post an ACTUAL, GENUINE apology as soon as physically possible.”
Still, Twitter users were not having it, with many pledging to boycott CoverGirl if they didn’t drop Charles from their roster.
In response, CoverGirl issued the following statement Thursday evening:
“James Charles’ tweet does not represent COVERGIRL’s perspective. We agree his statements were inappropriate but appreciate that he has issued an apology. We are an inclusive brand and respect all people and cultures.”
